The POWER of POLES (POP) Induction is totally unique in that it explores the use of both strapless and strapped Nordic walking poles to help you gain the best techniques and results!
This course is ideally taught over 2 sessions of 1.5 hours each. The Intro course starts with the strapless fitness walking poles. This will enable you to gain greater core engagement and master the upper body elements that provide propulsion, support and increased exercise benefits. Once you have mastered these essential basics you will go on to explore the traditional Nordic Walking strapped poles and movements.
After the first session you will have the ability to join regular walks, were you will consolidate your learning and get extra tuition from your instructor. The POP induction covers pole sizing, hill techniques and clear advice around the types of poles available and how to choose the right poles for you. I will work with you to understand what you want from your poles – this could be anything from rehabilitation for a bad knee to weight loss.
I will provide strapless poles for the induction sessions as these are easy to clean in line with Coronavirus guidelines. At the end of the course I will issue you with your Freedom Passport, which means you can enjoy Nordic Walking with any NWUK group across the UK.
Step two (a further 90mins) for those who want to explore technique further is the Power of Poles session 2 where the focus is on mastering the Nordic walking straps and more advanced techniques which are so much easier if the core moves have been mastered correctly and faults ironed out!
I ask you to wear a face mask at the introduction, but they are optional for the rest of the course as we will be outside.
