Situated in the Irwell Valley, Clifton Country Park is 48 hectares of beautiful countryside. Here you can explore acres of open woodland and meadows, enjoy lakeside walks and discover the hidden remnants of the city`s industrial past. Designated a local nature reserve in 2005 and it currently holds a Green Flag Award. It is also home to the industrial remains of the Wet Earth Colliery. Established around 1740, the colliery was one of the first deep mines to be sunk in the Irwell Valley.
The Visitor Centre is more than likely NOT open during the session so the nearest toilets are at McDonalds 447 Bolton Rd, Pendlebury, Manchester M27 8BB or ASDA 15 Wellington Rd, Swinton, Manchester M27 4BR
