We'll start with a 30 minute introduction to Nordic walking to give you a taste of how light you’ll feel on your feet, how your whole body is mobilised and why you need to take the time to learn the technique from a qualified NWUK instructor, before joining members of Nordic Walking Tameside for a 3-4 mile mostly flat walk (1 stile) along the Hollinwood Branch Canal and the top of the Medlock Valley to the outskirts of Droylsden and back through Littlemoss to the Daisy Nook Visitors Centre.
Led by an accredited instructor, this walk allows us to explore the hidden, quieter parts of Tameside you don’t normally see.
We'll meet in the car park for the Daisy Nook Countryside/Visitor's Centre, just off Stannybrook Rd (please note, not the garden centre!).
We will set off promptly at 9:30am so please try to arrive 10mins early so you are ready to go. Please do not be offended if we do not wait whilst you get yourself sorted. We do a warm up close by so please do catch up.
Please contact Jane directly if you are running late/need to cancel (07847 786 939). Similarly, if you book on after 8pm on Saturday, please text so we know to wait for you!
The walk is mainly along good paths, but some can get muddy. Dress appropriately for the weather, and don’t forget waterproofs and money for coffee after the walk. Trainers or walking shoes with a good grip, no walking boots please - you need to be able to move your ankle - and no jeans
Cancellations more than 24hrs before a walk can be made on the Exercise Anywhere booking system. Cancellations made less than 24hrs before a walk will not be refunded - please contact Jane either by phone or text on 07847 786 939 to cancel.
