Part 2. Looking over the Dove and Manifold Valleys 4.4miles (this walk)
The walk starts at Ilam Hall National Trust Car Park. Heading across to Hinckley woods over St Bertram’s Bridge. Crossing the quiet lane from Ilam, this is your first climb of 270ft up to Blore Pastures picnic site a good spot to capture some quality photo time and to start to appreciate the fine views. Crossing over the road over a few fields before returning back to a lane for 50m or so. You then traverse below Hazleton clump on a good track allowing you to gain a fast pace. Here, the views are again stunning across the Dovedale and Manifold Valley.
After another gentle ascent, you will reach the ruins of Upper Musden before heading back down Musden Grange to the small hamlet of Rushley. The last section is easy along Paradise walk created as a place where the hall guests could take their exercise many years ago. It is a delightful section of the walk along the Manifold river.
