Ready to explore some of the best views in the white peak and discover 330 million years of history in a cavern?

This walk starts in the beautiful Village of castleton, and we will take a steady walk past Speedwell Cavern to Trek Cavern, arguably the most beautiful cavern in the Castleton area, where you will Blue John stone, one of only 2 places in the country where you will see this unique stone and also a stunning array of stalagmites and stalactites in water worn chambers. There is a gift shop and small café here if you did not want to go into the cavern itself. After a visit to the cavern, we will walk up Mam Tor ‘the Shivering Mountain’ and along the ridge to Lose Hill, before dropping back into the Village of Hope, returning to Castleton, approximately 9 miles later. The pace and terrain will be moderate, but we can take short breaks when required by the group. We aim for a picnic stop along the ridge between Mam Tor and Lose Hill (weather depending!) and finish with coffee and a giant slice of cake at the Bay Tree Café in Castleton :-)

There are lots of small gift shops in Castleton, which are definitely worth a visit before leaving the area.

We look forward to Nordic walking with you soon!

Trek Cavern: Tours last approximately 40 minutes Trek Cavern entry £9.95, Senior citizen price £8.95 if in receipt of state pension. Group £8.50 – we may be eligible for this if over 10 people
