I have always coached sport and, for many years, I was a windsurfing instructor and coached junior rugby for over 20 years .
When suffering with a bad back 12 years ago, I was introduced to Nordic Walking by a family member. It helped me overcome the injury and I was amazed by the incredible benefits of practicing the technique.
I run regularly but I am continually surprised that I can maintain my performance level by using Nordic walking even when I have been unable to run due to heat, injury or lack of time.
I am confident that, as age will preclude running so much, I will be able to maintain my health, fitness and well-being through continuing to practice Nordic Walking.
What really excites me is that, by qualifying as a Nordic walking instructor, I am able to introduce others to the life-changing effects of taking up, sometimes for the first time, exercise; helping them to realise that the simple action of walking, augmented by the use of poles, can constitute a full body work out without feeling like formal“Exercise” .
