Parkinsons UK

Nordic Walking and Wellbeing This session is specific to those with Parkinson’s.

These one hour sessions will take place on Whitehall Recreation Ground and carers are welcome to join us to offer you more support. It will be suitable for almost anyone and the idea of the session is to exercise outside whilst having fun. Each session will be adapted to suit individual abilities.

I will be running two groups and there will be opportunity for both groups to meet up for a social cup of tea in the Café.

There will be some walking with Activator poles, which are designed to give users stability, better balance and confidence. You will find in using these poles your posture will improve and this will improve your overall health, fitness and joint mobility. Inclusive in the session we will spend some time focusing on balance and co ordination. Developing neurological pathways using ‘Smovey’s’ which are becoming increasingly recognised in improving  the neurological pathways to users, amongst health professionals. Exercising in  groups and being outside is so much  enjoyable than working in isolation in a gym environment,  improving  overall mental health and wellbeing.

Activator poles and Smovey’s  will be  provided for the duration of the sessions. I look forward to seeing you very soon.

Many thanks

Emma White
