What is Nordic Walking?NORDIC WALKING is a full-body workout that provides fast results. Unlike when trekking or rambling, Nordic Walking poles are planted behind you in order to propel you along. This engages the upper body and makes you feel lighter on your feet, which has four major advantages.
  • You use 90% of your major muscles so your upper body gets toned as well as your legs and backside!
  • You can burn 2040% extra calories by using the poles - this can really help with weight loss
  • It takes the pressure off your knees and joints and is great for back and neck problems
  • You can get the most out of even a fairly short walk!
However, in order to gain the maximum benefits from Nordic Walking, it is essential that you learn the correct technique from a qualified Instructor.
How do I learn how to Nordic Walk?
The initial step in your Nordic Walking journey with us is to join one of our technique training sessions and you have two options. The POWER OF POLES INDUCTION SESSION is delivered over two sessions of 1 hour each on consecutive weeks, and is totally unique in that it explores the use of both strapless and Nordic walking poles to aid the user gain the best technique and results! This course will introduce you to the wonderful world of Nordic walking a fun, sociable, and affordable way to improve your health and fitness. An alternative option is to join our POWER OF POLES: ARMCHAIR TO ACTIVE programme. Our unique 6-week programme is designed to encourage those who are INACTIVE to get ACTIVE by Nordic Walking! Regular and brisk walking is shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some types of cancer, such as bladder, breast, and colon cancer as well as boost mental health. With this weekly course, we build on technique, distance, and pace and have created an easy-to-follow programme with extra support and motivation from our instructors along the way.The course consists of:
