Based in Thorpe, Ashbourne we are perfectly located to access the southern and central areas of the Peak District National Park, The White Peak.See below for further details about our approach to the use of poles, fitness, general wellbeing and the sessions we offer.Discovery Session.If you have heard about or maybe seen people out Nordic walking or simply walking with poles and are interested in finding out more and obtain a better understanding of the benefits of walking with poles, then why not try a WALX White Peak Total Body Walking Discovery Session.This serves as a great opportunity to get your hands on a set of Nordic walking poles during a 30 minute introduction to the basic principles and benefits of walking with poles.Power of Poles (POP).A Power of the Poles Workshop is the best way to get started with poles and commence your walking with poles journey under the watchful eye of WALX White Peak qualified instructors.During this 90 minute session you will be introduced to a variety of different poles and identify the most suitable ones for you.You will learn the basics of using poles for walking and be engaged further by walking at different paces, uphill, downhill and over mixed terrain.The POP will introduce an enhance level of purpose to your walking, unlocking the potential to turn a walk into a Total Body Workout. Explorer WalksLovely group walks or walks with themes exploring the White Peak area. Themes vary across the seasons e.g. Bluebell walks, Snowdrop walks or depending on Whats On in the local area e.g. Well Dressing walks. Keep an eye out for the occasional Janneke SpecialsSessions vary in duration, typically 90 minutes upwards .Total Body Walking WellnessGentle social walks ideal for maintaining general fitness levels. Also suitable for anyone returning to light exercise after some time off, illness or injury.Sessions typically 60-90mins.Total Body Walking FitnessIdeal for improving aerobic fitness levels, endurance, and speed.Walks may: -cover more challenging gradients and terrain;involve walking at a variety of paces focusing on Posture, Purpose and Performance; and, include an element of strength work or plyometrics.If you are considering tackling longer distance walking challenges, then Total Body Walking Fitness sessions are an ideal complement to your regular weekly walks and will massively contribute to the achievement of your walking challenge goals.Special Events and ChallengesMonthly Long Walks venturing deeper into the heart of the Peak District National Park, are perfect for those looking for the challenge of a good day out walking in the hills. Walk durations likely to be in excess of 4 hours with tea/coffee stops, lunch stops and the like forming an integral part of the days itinerary.Mid-week and weekend monthly long walk options are available.Group Challenge preparation walks will feature where sufficient numbers from the WALX White Peak group sign up for a specific event. e.g. longer recce walks form part of the plan for the opening 4 months of the year in preparation for the Leaden Boot Challenge (a local Marathon distance walking challenge with approximately 1800m of elevation change), which gives the group the opportunity to prepare mental and physically for the challenge and familiarise themselves with sections of the route.If you have set your sights on other challenges, get in touch and lets see what we can arrange.Strength & ConditioningOur Strength & Conditioning sessions are designed to improve your overall body strength, core strength, mobility, balance, flexibility, and general condition.Once we pass 40 years of age, we lose muscle mass naturally every year at an accelerating rate thereafter. Consequently, our general body strength and condition is often neglected as we age but is an area that we considered to be non-negotiable.Sessions focus on our larger upper and lower body muscle groups as well as our core promoting all round strength, balance, flexibility, and mobility.We work with our own body weight rather than lifting weights.Come along, use it or lose it.Running with PolesRegardless of your running experience, whether you have signed up for a trail marathon, Ultra marathon, monster multi-day-stage foot race, or simply looking to upskill and take your running to the next level then this Running with Poles Workshop is for you.Workshops are provided on a bespoke one to one basis or in small groups.Get in touch to discuss your requirement and arrange a session at a mutually convenient time and date.
